Friends do. With the benefit of a few years of hindsight through middle school and high school now, both my kids and their friends see the value of not having a social media account. Where once upon a time they were concerned that they would be missing out on everything, they now recognized it's largely been a platform their peers have used to brag, bully, or present themselves as someone that you are not.
