If you have promised yourself (And often others) that you would not ______ and you do it anyway, you may very well be dealing with an addiction. Often addicts will participate in a behavior in spite of dire consequences (Loss of job, loss of family, ...).
Step 1 of the Addiction Recovery Program is: "Admit that you, of yourself, are powerless to overcome your addictions and that your life has become unmanageable." That is the key for me. Are you, without any outside help, able to overcome the behavior?
You can have addicts that only participate in their problematic behaviour once a year. That's still an addiction. It's not just a problem of frequency or severity.
Actually, addicts often think the way your poll suggests. You often hear addicts confronting their addiction for the first time saying things like "Wow! I'm WAY better than these guys. At least I didn't _____."
