But I can tell you that in the vacuum of their 2nd half performance against Yewtah, that it’d be easy to conclude byu is a bad team. That was one pathetic half.
Hopefully that’s not the case, but I’m concerned. And all I heard from most of the players and coaches interviews this week would make you think they just need to fix some minor problems. Coach Lamb is the only one who seemed to call out the defensive players for quitting down the stretch, which they basically did.
I’m concerned that this team has a history of losing close games. I thought it was youth last year but I’m starting to wonder if it’s mental block and/or conditioning. They don’t seem to make plays during key deciding stretches of the game. And they make critical assignment execution mistakes. I see a lot of players jogging instead of going full out; maybe that’s because they’re not in great shape.
I hope this isn’t a repeat of 2017. I believe that Wilson Is a much better playmaker at qb so hopefully that translates into a better offense. I’m worried about the lack of defensive scheming, and general coaching. Byu doesn’t seem to help itself much with the schemes being run.
