The lightning side is the same. The USB side is only different on one phone.

The difference allows for faster charging. You can get an adapter to allow the faster charging on other newer iPhones (including older iPhones back to iPhone 8 I believe).

They've put USB-c on a few of the newer devices but still support lightning on others.

I think it is the right move. Lightning accomplished what the market needed but USB couldn't do yet.

The 30 pin lasted 9 years, lightning is still in use 7 years later, USB-C is recent but industry standard.

You can buy a charging plug and USB-C to lightning cable on Amazon. I have several.
