secret gift giving. They all have some variation of "all you do is buy one gift for one person and you receive 6 to 36 gifts in return". My favorite was one of my wife's cousins who sent this out and the first thing she said was "this is not a scam". She later commented that her oldest kid told her it was a scam but she told her kid that it wasn't as long as it's just done with people you know...smh.

The one my sister-in-law did last year required you to send your gift(s) to the person two tiers up rather than one tier. That one is worse IMO because it guilts you into finding more people below you. You can't just join and send a gift because the person who recruited you misses out unless you spread the scam more.
