Given what the BOT, AD, and Admin ARE WILLING to do, KS is pretty much as good as BYU is going to get and, yes, BYU should be thankful for him and his willingness to put up with the unnecessary handcuffs BYU athletics are saddled with.
That said, if BYU is truly interested in being a perennial top-25 program, etc., etc., etc., changes need to be made. What those changes are have been discussed ad nauseum for years here.
I grew up in Provo. My parents both taught at BYU. Yes, I will always cheer for BYU. That will never change. But, I don't pay my hard-earned money to go cheer for the team because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I want them to win...EVERY GAME. I cheer for them to win.
The world is full of participation-trophy teams. I simply don't feel the need to go "all in" over one, especially when the powers that be won't.
