He’s muscling in more shots than ever before, mostly around the rim. He can clear out a defender. He’s become more effective at using the glass. He’s still shooting a great percentage, 65% for the year.
He can’t do much outside of 5 feet, but contrary to what a lot of jazz fans think, the Jazz don’t really need him too. Once in awhile if there’s enough room he does dribble and or take a step or two to get a look closer at the rim, mostly off the pick and rolls.
The bigger problem is that the jazz players can’t get Gobert the ball at the rim as much, partially because more teams are defending the pick and roll by dropping their big to protect the rim roll. I don’t think Conley has been particularly adept at the lob or pass to Rudy either. Have to say that Ricky was a much better passer.
