seem to understand this. The CFP is supposed to be a playoff between the 4 best teams in the country. Hard stop. It is not based on power conferences, or any other conferences. It would be exactly the same if college football didn't have any conferences at all.
The premise is always the same: identify the 4 best teams in college football, and have them play each other, and the winner is the national champion.
Now, everyone agrees that choosing the 4 best teams is highly subjective. And there are certainly valid arguments to expand the playoff to 8 teams (or even 12).
But the fact that there are 5 so-called "power conferences" does not enter into the equation. At all. In any way, shape, or form. Period.
