Football is king and always will be at BYU, but as we know from when we had Jimmer here, people get extremely excited and hyped for hoops as well when they are rolling and want to see them play. Just look at the difference in the MC this year vs last year. So many more fans and excitement. The place has been rocking the last few games. If BYU keeps rolling and sneaks into the top 25, I predict this Gonzaga game coming up in another couple weeks in Provo will be close to the same energy as the BYU vs SDSU in 2011 had.

The biggest issue really is winning. BYU has never won the tournament since joining the WCC almost ten years ago, and not only that, but they haven't even ever really come close. The few years we have managed to get to the championship, we have got beaten easily by Gonzaga and haven't really even competed, and then add to that the fact that we also have had several years we have came into the tournament and absolutely laid an egg like we did last year and you start to see why we don't have the fan interest like Gonzaga does.

All it is going to take IMO is for BYU to start competing better at the tournament and winning it now and then. I don't even think they need to get to the level Gonzaga is at where they win it almost every single year to get a lot more fan support. Even winning it every 3-5 years and avoiding the total collapses like they did last year would do wonders.
