Who knows how long he had been compiling the music for that first album.... Then after it's success, he was probably put on contract by some label, and had to just kick something out every year thereafter.
Probably a big difference when your creativity is boxed in by deadlines etc.
Still... They had a high degree of success after as well... For a while
