I believe a mortgage modification will allow you to tack on payments at the back end. I'm trying to get this with Cenlar (a Citi mortgage partner) and that's the language I've seen - as they originally came out with forbearance and a ton of people were up in arms about it not really helping while seeing other banks tack it on the back end of the loan.
