I can finally play it, and I can't freaking wait. I grew up playing FF6 (or 3 in the US, whatever...), and I still revisit it fairly often. It is at the pinnacle for me, not just for FF games, but for all games (along with other games like Chrono Trigger, etc.). I never actually played FF7, although I watched a friend play through some of it, and even though I don't really remember much of the story itself, that music stuck with me all these years.
I've always wanted to play FF7 myself, but every time I have thought about doing so, I got turned off by the graphics of the original (I hate that horrible 3D-polygon look). So, when they first announced the remake, I was super excited. My excitement got stamped out though after finding out that they changed how the battle system works. I'm a big fan of turn-based combat, and so it made me pretty sad that they were going with a seemingly much more action-RPG style with it. However, a few weeks ago I played the demo, and my concerns for how battles work were thrown out the window. It was awesome. Ever since then I've been so freaking excited for it again.
I was actually so excited for it that I bought the original game for the Switch. I started playing it, and now I regret all those times I stopped myself from playing it due to the graphics. I played through just the very first part that the remake demo also covers, and it was great. So, my plan now is to play the remake, and then after I'm done with it, play through the original.
I have a feeling tomorrow is going to feel super slow. 10 PM MDT can't come soon enough. I haven't been this excited about a new video game in a long while.
