Anyone make Reuben sandwiches with pumpernickel bread before?

I'm making homemade corned beef today for Reuben sandwiches tonight. My wife accidentally got pumpernickel bread instead of rye bread.

Do I just go with it or get the rye?

Yes- granted I enjoy rye and pumpernickel. It adds a deeper flavor.
