I had a herd of elk nearly smash me in April. They were making a beeline to cross the road, but I believe the wind
noise from the truck in front of us had them turn an abrupt 90 just as we got into range. It's incredible watching them run at a full gallop.

Which reminds me, we had an antelope cross in front of us at a full gallop not 20 yards away, that was awesome. But that was on purpose and not a near miss: we were trying to film antelope.

Cows and deer are a constant threat in my area.
