In the last few years I have hit a deer, a coyote, 2 raccoons, an armadillo, and a few rabbits. The deer ran into the
driver side of my car while I was driving ~70 mph. If I was just a split second slower it would have been much worse. The deer and the coyote were expensive. Luckily I maneuvered the car at the last second so the armadillo went between my wheels and it only thumped under the car.

Lot's of animals on the rural Missouri highway I used to commute on everyday. It's about a 35 mile stretch and I once counted 48 road kill animals on the road on my way to work.

Also, I hope it was a coyote I hit and not a large dog. I barely saw a flash of fur before the impact, but I never found the body...
