And, you'd have to convince me that BYU does NOT still make the NY6 even with a close loss. If BYU loses in a close, neutral-site game to one of the top-4 CFP participants, we will have shown that we belong in the NY6 this year and will not drop outside the top-12.
For instance, just last year, the following teams lost in their CCGs, but still remained in the CFP top-12:
- #7 Baylor lost to #6 Oklahoma in OT...and remained at #7 in the final CFP rankings
- #8 Wisconsin lost to #1 Ohio State by 13 points and remained at #8 in the final CFP rankings
- #5 Utah lost to *#13* Oregon by *22 points* and fell only to #11 in the final CFP rankings
