Unfortunately the point has pretty much become moot now just as we are getting to the good part of our discussion.
Let's butt heads over something a little more timely, shall we? 🙂
Oh, and to answer in good faith — one possible reason UW didn't respond immediately is because they were still in negotiations with BYU, and their administrators (not the gossipers) were trying finish the deal. Speaking publicly too soon would jeopardize it.
I pity whomever broke the confidence if UW ever figures out who did it. For a number of reasons BYU has been and will continue to be a valuable OOC opponent. The UW powers-that-be would want to keep that relationship good. They are thinking long term. Now some fool looking to score some quick points has put that long-term relationship in jeopardy. The people who matter at UW will not be pleased.
Here's what I suspect happened:
• 1 UW makes offer .
• 2 BYU makes counter-offer
• 3 UW asks PAC12 for waiver on no-play-no-pay and other BYU terms
• 4 PAC12 says no.
The leak occurred sometime after #2, most likely during #3.
