on multiple dates in October. Only Navy ended up being added to the schedule. Even Houston backed out of traveling to Provo. Before Troy and Army were added to the schedule, I have it on good authority that every single AAC school was contacted, offered a home-and-home series, and every single school turned it down. For a conference that has supposedly been wooing us for their entire existence, it's really disappointing that we couldn't manage to schedule more than a single game with them.
Army definitely ducked us for 11/28. I don't think it was for competitive reasons, but their AD is holding a grudge against us for us having a COVID outbreak. It's nonsensical.
Marshall and Liberty ducked us for a one-and-done on 11/28. That might just be good business though, not necessarily shying away from playing us. They wanted a home-and-home and we weren't willing to give it to them.
I don't think scheduling a P5 was ever a realistic possibility. Only the Big 12 and ACC were willing to play OOC at all, and every single one of them scheduled patsies.
