It actually looks more like a forkball than a circle change from what I can see
on a circle change up the three fingers sit together where his two middle are split.
I'm more curious how the screwball and fork change up.

I think that rotation is actually easier on the elbow than the opposite

I have seen a number of different variations to the circle change. Split 3-4 fingers are pretty common.
