Several reasons
1. More money in the SEC
2. Playing in more fertile recruiting areas
3. A more compelling schedule for fans and a recruiting perspective
4. Greater distribution of 3rd tier rights
5 Ego. They view themselves as elite and feel they can demonstrate that in the SEC.
6. Iron sharpens Iron. They aren’t concerned about making the playoff. They want to win it. They will have more national championship contenders to test themselves against in the SEC vs the Big 12
