Getting good defensive lineman might be the hardest position to recruit.
The demand for high quality defensive lineman is enormous. I think it’s easier to recruit a high level quarterback than a high level defensive lineman.
Add to the fact that most schools rotate defensive lineman during games even if your a backup if you’re good you’ll get significant playing time unlike the QB position.
