Think about it in practical terms...
- PK has talked to a contact at the Utah AD's office for 20 years. Maybe the guy is in meetings with the AD a lot. The guys tells him 'it's moving toward the Big 12'. But then the next call, the AD gets new information about what Oregon and Washington are doing, or Fox comes to the Pac 10 with more money or he hears there's a chance of the ACC thing happening.
Point is, I don't think the reporters are garbage in this situation. I just think it's constantly changing. It's like a very very complex job/salary negotiation between multiple parties. It's a bit of a mess and the reporters are trying to figure out what's real and who really 'knows' anything.
Whenever 'it' happens (whatever it is), you'll start to hear sources crystallize. He'll start to hear things from BYU's athletic dept, Utah's, national guys reporting will start to match etc. etc. It's just super messy right now.
