I remember sitting on the couch in my apartment talking with my buddies after

I am not really old enough to remember 80 and 84 but 96

Same here. My first game was BYU and Miami.

I barely remember 84....I have watched replays of games, but I do agree.....96..

Same....gut wrenching. That being said, me watching replays of BYU at UofU in 96

Surprised 2001 does not get more love. That Team was stacked with talent...

80, 83, 84, 90, and 96 should have cemented Lavelle's legacy.....

You should at least spell his name right...

It played one of the easiest schedules in BYU modern history. BYU was playing

Valid point, but that Team healthy was stacked....

I would take 84, 90, 96, 83, 06, 07, over 2001, maybe more.

Agree with the premise, but Staley was the X- Factor...never seen a BYU player..

Just poorly coached defensively. DC Ken Schmidt should’ve retired with Edwards…

Defense had talented edge players but front 7 was pudding soft in the middle.

Might have had the best offense ever. The defense didn't consistently perform as

I’ve been season ticket holder since 1988. 2001 is far and away most exciting
NYC and Japan

1979 as well. Finished the regular season undefeated. Marc Wilson finished #3

Didn’t have the best results, but I’d take the ‘85 team in a one-off with any

Yep. Lost 10-7 in Citrus Bowl to Ohio State in a defensive slugfest. UTEP cheated.

That was an unfortunate game. A little too much partying the night before left…

Not to mention blowing out whiny Washington as well as three shutouts.

They lost at home to UCLA. I was at that game. Tough to put them on Par....

UCLA finished ranked 7 and rose bowl champs. I was at the UCLA game. We had the lead at the end and gave up a huge play

Good point. Probably a very overlooked BYU Team after 84.

Then I joined the Marine Corps and pissed my Dad off....so there was that. Lol

I think BYU fans and detractors alike often forget that we don’t have a 1984

83 team with Steve Young 500 yards total offense per game was better than 84 tea

Was 2006 better than 2009?
JoeExotic
6/1/23 5:45am
I also think 2021 was just as good
JoeExotic

Hard to know what SOS would've done in these other years. 2021 was impressive
SoBlueitHurts
6/1/23 12:57pm
I think 2006 would beat 2009 in a bowl game but lose in a season opener.
CougarBreath

Exactly. 2006 team would’ve beaten nearly anybody at the end of the year.

2007 was better than both IMO.

1996 had the Cotton Bowl win which was the most thrilling end to a game aside
nybyblue

2006 - if there was a playoff that year like next, BYU would have won it all
Bleeding Blue
6/1/23 9:21am
The answer to me is 1984 because of the 23-game win streak

1984 team won the Natty, end of conversation!

It had some missteps, but I think we undervalue 2021. Even though it was mostly

I think the 2021 team was better when not injured than any of them.
