Since around the All Star break the top scoring team in the NHL is the Coyotes
They have 6 players on the roster with at least 20 goals (second in the NHL). They have a young goalie (Ingram) with 6 shutouts this season (leads the NHL)

So why did this team miss the playoffs? The Coyotes have the second-youngest roster in the NHL. Youth takes time to learn how to win especially in the NHL. In the NBA and NFL you can draft someone that will immediately make an impact on your roster. In the NHL the draftable ages are 18-20. It's tough for a teenager to make the League and typically takes a few years to develop.

The Coyotes have a lot of cash to spend on Free Agents. If management can sprinkle in the right mix of veterans to bring this young, energetic group along and teach them how to win games this is a playoff team. As in next year this team could and maybe even should be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They've been out of the playoffs for 11 out of the last 12 years so there has been a lot build-up to that statement.
