some on here using this platform to promote it, but I am not a fan. Just tired of articles that bait you with headlines, but you can't read them. I know, I know, stop being "CHEAP," and someone is going to plead NIL, and how can I "not want to support our players," but that is a classic marketing ploy, and I don't buy it. There was a recent event in Utah where someone said the same thing about giving $ in support of kids being abducted and sold in to sundry activities. "How can you not want to help the kids?"
Cougconnect should go the way of the previous student athlete adds, that were sometimes kinda disturbing, almost looking like "pimping out" of the athletes for a few dollars. It was a little "icky" at times, if you ask me.
But I basically have three main problems with Cougconnect:
1. I don't appreciate being manipulated in to buying something on the pretense that it's supporting NIL, as I think I should be left to donate when, where, and what I choose to donate, based on my finances and desire, not required to donate in a specific way, or "no soup for you."
2. There is absolutely no way of knowing just how much of the paid "subscription" money actually gets in to the players pockets, and helps them individually, and how much goes to "administrative costs," and to the people who started cougconnect. It's the same reason many of us have hesitation donating to charities, that claim to help the disadvantaged, but only transfer a small fraction of the $ to the intended recipients.
3. $100 / month for a "GOLD MEMBERSHIP?" That's gold alright, "gold digging," IMO.
I've been following cougar sports for over 35 years, and have been able to read about the Cougs on CB, cougarblue, Des news, Daily Universe, Vanquish the Foe, OUrlads, ESPN, Cougarfans, Totalbluesports, and even 247 sports, without having to pay to play, as those sites all make their money or are funded in other ways. Cougconnect is mostly redundant, IMO, and not really needed, except that it somehow has a platform on CB to promote itself.
Sorry, but just because you try to create a niche, doesn't mean there is one.
