It is likely to get stuck pulling it through. Depends on how big the holes are
through the studs. But no harm in trying. Going straight up and down should be easier than going side to side behind drywall.

Another option would be to run/hide it along the carpet/baseboards and buy a trim piece to hide it if you are going up a wall.
