Robbie Bosco did a lot for BYU as the starting quarterback and likely injuries ended his chance at an NFL career...he never played a down at the next level. Thankfully, almost no one remembers that UTEP game from 1985. (I do remember a big booster in my ward wanting LaVell gone after that game.) But they do remember the National Championship.
Most people, not even Paul James, expected BYU to go unbeaten in 1984. The experts expected a big 1985. (I remember that PJ predicted a 9-3 record and expected BYU to lose at Pitt, at Hawaii and at Air Force in 1984.)
