I'm working on a research project for school and need to calculate the statistical significance between two groups and my last semester Stats 121 knowledge from BYU is getting a little rusty.
I have two groups of cataract surgery patients. Group A had a complication in the surgery while Group B did not. I'm trying to figure out if one group was more likely to have a certain vision level poorer than the other. Specifically, were patients in Group A more likely to have vision 20/200 or worse than those in group B. The visual acuity right now in Excel is converted to a number so 20/200 is input as 1 or greater.
From what I've calculated, 6% of patients in group A and 1% in group B had poorer vision, so it seems more likely. How do I calculate the p-value to see if it is a significant difference?
