We have a de-clawed (don't tell PETA) indoor cat that thinks he's a dog. My wife and I both grew up with dogs, but wanted a lower-maintenance pet while she was working full-time and I was in school. We feel bad because we treated the little guy like a dog and taught him how to sit, come when called, and stand on his back legs for treats. He's also really good at being able to intuitively tell which people hate cats when we have friends over and will constantly jump up on their laps.
