I am very familiar with the culture, so I am never surprised. I have love and compassion for the principles, some are deeply valuable to me. Others are, in my opinion, from man.

It's pretty hard to realize that maybe football will never be important enough to chruch leaders to give the money that could VERY easily to it. It sucks that religious bigotry and corruption keeps BYU out of a major conference. If we had been giving the opprotunity 10 years ago, we wouldn't find outselves now so far behind, it's wildly unfair.

I also think that certain parts of the honor code aren't useful, even within the parameters/doctrines of the church. The don't make sense even though many believe they need to justify every tidbit. I understand the need to justify I guess. To each thier own, but from someone on the outs, even with a lot of undertanding and empathy, some really are only harming to the athletes and frankly the pereption of the University. 

Even still, I am and will always be loyal. I will watch every game. I will go to as many as I can afford. I wait with anticipation for the climate of college football/basketball to self correct and open a window from the Cougs to get back in the game, or for some special "jimmer" like freak athlete to bring some glory back to the school. I very much hope in the mean time for the decision makers to find more support for the programs. If the programs were to die off, It would be hard to care enough to watch sports like I do now. 

In the short term I would like to see this board band together a little more. The squabbling doesn't look good on anyone, and it doesn't represent the strength I think we possess. It has been a bit dark recently. Dark times, but hopefully just before the dawn.
