The fact is that white people did oppress black people. White people are the colonizers who ran rampant over Africa and Native America. That's just fact. I think that Mormons, more than many white people in America, can relate to the historical pain that many minorities must feel. We also need to acknowledge that we don't know what it's like to be someone else. We don't feel what they feel. I'm sure it was uncomfortable to be in a room where people openly agreed with an anti-white antagonist, but I don't think that needs to ruin an experience for you. Black Panther's entire point was about changing from the past. And that message clearly was meant for all races, not just whites or blacks. White people have, in the past particularly, made it impossible for black people to succeed. Now that many of those barriers have been removed, black people need to get past some of their own self-made barriers.
Finally, you really need to brush up on your nerd-speak, because you sound like such a jock talking about Marvel characters without knowing their names and proper spellings. 😉
