I heard someone talking about the sumo wrestler for hockey once (I also know very little about the sport) but they said
that no one is large enough to fill all the gaps of a hockey goal, even though they're small. Plus, NHL players are already very good with squeezing the puck into tight gaps and with a sumo wrestler, you'd lose a lot of the agility of a typical goalie, which is considered more important than size.

I have also wondered why we don't see more 6'10"+ Tight Ends though.
