I had heard tales about byu students being arrogent and stuck up. I think I met 3 of those in my time as a student there.
It seems to me that the arrogance is more a function of socioeconomic and family background.
I was an engineering major and shared a 2 bedroom appartment with 5 other people. No stuck up people would dare live in such an appartment complex (It was an awesome place to live, so their loss), and the sheer amount of work an engineering degree seemed to scare away those who think they are too good to soil their hands with plebeian pastimes such as "hard work."
Go to an expensive appartment complex where people have private bedrooms and I can garuntee a much higher rate of snootiness. It is pretty much the same the world over.
