Believing you can and expecting you will are two different things.
You should always believe you can. Virginia got beat by the Ann Arundel Girls' School for the Blind and Deaf last year. In the tournament, even.

But if you BET the 16 seed, you're a moron. And broke, likely enough.

Could we have won that game? Sure. SHOULD we have? No. Should anyone have gone into that game and said, "so, once we've put these losers away, we can start thinking about the next game..." Heck no. As a fan, I have the luxury of cheering my heart out and being pleased when the team performs better than, on average, it should. I don't have to win a game to be encouraged by what I see on the floor.

Yeah, you can approach every game as if you're North Carolina, but that seems a really hard way to live, when you're BYU. You're gonna be sad. A lot. Ideally, if you follow the Saban/Wooden model, you shouldn't EVER expect to win. You just play the game as well as you can and see what happens. I feel like BYU played as well against Nevada as that collection of people can play at this stage in the season. I am therefore satisfied with the performance and looking to see us improve as we go. How about you?
