The Heisman is not about who is the best player. It's about who helped their team the most. Gardner came in to WSU and took over for a 4 year starter after the heir apparent committed suicide last spring and led Wazzu to one of their best seasons in over a decade. If not for the blizzard during the Apple Cup Wazzu likely wins that game, beats Utah for the championship and is a contender for the playoff. But, that's the risk of the air-raid offense: bad weather can kill you. Regardless, no player did as much for their team as he did this year especially considering the situation he came into.
