well, all I know is that I got my flu and shingles while I was home in the US in December (yeah I know I have to get
my second shingles), but as the flu has passed thru my family and the office here in China, I'm the last man standing.

That said, years ago just after my first child and son was born, I started coughing, and it progressively got worse. My son was three months old, and went in for his first round of shots.

A week later, both of us were coughing to the point of projectile vomiting (and in this case, just picture a soup can, and coughing so hard that your mouth opens and you feel like a constant flow the size of said can is ejecting - when the baby did it just after nursing it looked the same).

We ended up in the NICU with him. It turns out that MY vaccinations from my childhood must have lost effect, because I had developed pertussis (whooping cough) and evidently transmitted it to the baby. 1 in 4 babies >1year who contract whooping cough die.

We were in the hospital with him nearly a week. All the time, blowing chunks.

And if you aren't aware, just because the coughing and vomiting become better, whooping cough doesn't just 'go away'. In fact months later, exercise and just running the bases in baseball and softball could bring on a coughing fit where you end up on your knees coughing so hard and gasping for breath that you think you'll die.

After watching that baby go thru the same thing, coughing so hard he couldn't breath, and the vomiting, I'd suggest you get your kids vaccinated.
