A few years back my wife went to a chiropractor for something. After that she offered to pop my spine based on what she learned. I said okay and she did that for me.
The next day I became very sick. Very very sick. I layed in bed for two days with the lights off and on total dark. I didn't want to move. Everything hurt and I had a ridiculous headache. I had cold sores all over the bottom of my nose which was gross and super annoying.
As I began to recover I still had irritation in my right eye. It got bad enough that I went to see an optometrist. He thought I must have scratches on my cornea so he gave me a contact lens to protect my eye from me eyelid while healing. It worked. It felt so much better. After a few days though it started to really irritate me again so we went to the ER.
The ER doc had to get a book and told me what he saw was something he had only seen in a book in medical school. He thought maybe it was shingles.
It turns out I had a cold sore on my cornea. It had traveled through the nerve and the contact lens simply allowed it to grow.
I had to use steroid drops for a year and I have permanent scarring on my cornea. Through just my right eye everything is blurry, though through a slotted spoon my vision is clear.
Thankfully through both eyes I can see fine. The left compensates.
Moral of the story, don't get your back adjusted.
