Booker was out for a couple weeks and the offense does seem to flow better sometimes without him. Some of that is on booker isolating too much, but the rest of the team also defers to him too much.

I think the biggest problem is we just don’t have many players who are nba caliber and not super raw. We had a nice two week stretch of good play behind a Tyler Johnson/Booker/Bridges/Oubre/Ayton lineup. Johnson and Oubre aren’t stars, but they’re nba caliber rotation players and that made a world of difference. Johnson and Oubre are both hurt now and we’re back to the crap fest we’ve seen all season.

Booker has to take some of the blame for the suns losing ways, but his supporting cast has been trash.

So ya, he probably plays hero ball a bit too much(i’d argue Mitchell does too) but they’re both 22 and learning the ropes of being a number one option. They’re gonna take bad shots. Mitchell has the benefit of playing on a top 1 or 2 defense in the league and has better and more consistent shooters around him.

Booker plays on a bad defensive team(partially his fault) that relies on a rookie center to anchor their defense. He’s got no pg and the only two shooters hitting over league average from 3 are TJ warren(he’s missed half the season and is currently out) and Troy Daniels(he’s in and out of the rotation and plays most of his minutes when booker rests)

I think the suns need another consistent scoring option and an actual pg. Booker can then hopefully morph more into a guy that plays within the offense and lets others create better looks for him. His overall scoring might go down, but his efficiency should increase.

I think Mitchell would benefit greatly from a pg that was a consistent offensive threat as well.

Sorry this was way too long of a post, but I would agree that the way booker is currently playing is not ideal for how he should be playing on a good team, but it’s kind of a necessity right now because we don’t have other options.
