This has been our experience.
We're on our 4th college student.
Grants and loans usually (not always) arrive before tuition is due. Scholarships or military benefits have always reimbursed our kids for a payment they made.
Fun fact (sarcastic tone). Our 4th has been waiting over a year for a books reimbursement - about $1000.
