High School football for a first time player
My wife has finally agreed to let my step son play football. He has never played football of any kind. He has only played soccer (goalkeeper) growing up.

He will be a junior and really wants to be a receiver (with my encouragement... part of my selling point to his mom). He is 6’ and maybe 160 lbs. As goalkeeper he developed pretty good eye hand coordination so I’m thinking at his size and with that trait, receiver is probably the best spot for him.

My question is how would you guide a child in this situation to prepare him to play? He is very much a self motivated and driven kid. I’ve looked into receiver camps like Ross Apo runs and 7v7 type stuff but with no knowledge of any kind I’m concerned they would be to high a level for a beginner. I’m just guessing that those are very competitive and he wouldn’t get any attention. I could obviously be completely wrong about that though.

Football and it’s modern terminology is 35 years in my rear view so I’m not sure I would be of great help other than running a jugs machine for him.

Thoughts??
