My son left BYU after realizing he could start his chosen career w/o a degree. He’s a
lighting & sound designer. He took professional licensing classes & passed tests to be certified. His bread & butter jobs are in Corp conventions but is often called to program big name concert tours & music festivals.

I think my wife's stepson would really do well as an electrician but I haven't been able to convince him.
