This could actually be a really good discussion because you question has merit
and there is something behind it. It would take a lot more time than I have today, but the TL;DR is that yes, teams are shooting more from distance (eschewing the over-simplified but not inaccurate "Barca/Spain dribble the ball into the goal" approach that gained momentum earlier this decade). There are lots of reasons for that, but the biggest is that more shots usually = more chances, more opportunity for deflections or redirects, and more ability to mitigate positioning by a really good keeper.

Hopefully one or two of the other soccer guys chime in.
