Or at least in which fatherhood is a major theme:
Frequency - Plot makes no sense but the emotional resonance is strong enough that I love it anyway.
My Father's Glory - A son's memories of a family trip to Provence. The sequel, My Mother's Castle, is also good, though the first is a little better IMO.
About Time - More of a rom-com, but the father-son relationship is the one that really hits for me.
In the Name of the Father - Arguably the GOAT Irish film, starring the GOAT actor (DDL). Pete Postlethwaite is great as his father, also wrongfully imprisoned for a bombing.
Day After Tomorrow - Not a great movie, but I love the cheesy emotional drive of the father going to rescue his son.
Billy Elliott - One of my favorite movie endings.
Searching - Not a great movie, but a solid one and very ingeniously crafted. Really like John Cho in it.
Big Fish - Cheesy fun. A lot of visually cool scenes and a nice father-son through-line.
Royal Tenanbaums - Great movie. Bad father tries to make amends.
The Castle - Love both fathers in this. Criminally underappreciated.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople - Great step-dad movie.
The Descendants - Either this or Michael Clayton is my favorite George Clooney movie. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Road to Perdition - One of Tom Hanks' best roles.
Into the West - Great little Irish movie about a couple kids who become convinced their mother's spirit is guiding a white horse their Traveler grandfather finds. They head to the coast on horseback while their father tries to find them.
Midnight Special - Love Michael Shannon in this as a father trying to protect his strangley gifted son from pursuers.
Morris from America - Not great, but solid movie about Craig Robertson as a single dad living with in Heidelberg with his son while he works as a soccer coach. Mostly a fish out of water story, from the son's point of view, but the father-son dynamic is well done.
