Walk behind tillers for suburban yard use. Electric or gas powered? Why? Thinking 12-16 inches wide.

Gas. More power & more reliable.

I like gas because no cord. I also have a little eco terrorist in me. Nuff said.

Do they seriously make electric tillers? I can't image they'd be all that powerful...

Mantis makes an electric one - works fine in clay soil, and is super quiet.

I bought a Sun Joe electric tiller for about $100. It's surprisingly powerful.

For how often I would use one, I would just rent whatever was available at Home

Our garden area isn't that big, and I put a plug right next to it, so we just bought an electric one.
