I recently bought a used car to drive as a commuter and test drove several 5 series and 3 series. I ruled out the turbocharged 4 cylinders due to the performance.
It’s not horrible, I’d say test drive the 4 and 6 cylinders one after the other and decide if the turbo lag and power deferential is important to you.
If you are in Salt Lake, check out Rev Motoring. They specialize in BMW’s and do some after market stuff with the suspension and wheels. I think they have some cool looking cars and considered buying from them.
Ultimately, I bought a Lexus ES350 that was higher mileage than what I was planning but was at a good price and has a much better service record than the BMW’s. Good luck.
