My son is 28 now. Awareness has improved. People would just stare at us like...
what in the world is wrong with that kid and why are those horrible parents letting him behave like that.
We had one friend that made up some little business cards to hand out to the gawkers that said "you are witnessing a tantrum by a non verbal, autistic child and then went on to explain why she was handling it the way she was and how others can "help".
