Utopia finally made it to my neighborhood in Layton and I was able to upgrade from my paltry 8 mbps speed to over 300 mbps.
When the CenturyLink rep asked me why I was cancelling after 7 years with them, I said, "Because CenturyLink was my only option for that 7 years, and now I have another better (and cheaper) option". He then asked me if I'd be willing to stay at CenturyLink if they upgraded me to 12 mbps for only $5 more per month. At which point I laughed and said, "My new service is over 300 mbps, and it costs $7 less per month than what you are already charging me. Please just disconnect my service."
Ahhhh the sweet, sweet sound of monopoly power being run into the ground.
