The headline is misleading. It was not a 20-year losing streak.
It was a 20-year winless streak. 1928, 1938 & 1941 were ties. It was a series of 6, 9 & 2 game losing streaks.
Also, with his win in 1942, Floyd Millett not only snapped the winless streak, he became the only head coach not named Lavell to have a winning record over Utah at 1-0.
