spent so much time making USB outlets available so people can plug in phones and charge...now the standard is changing to USB-c and so in 5-10 years all those USB charging docks will be worthless and need to be changed to USB-c.

They've put USB-c on a few of the newer devices but still support lightning on others.

I think it is the right move. Lightning accomplished what the market needed but USB couldn't do yet.

The 30 pin lasted 9 years, lightning is still in use 7 years later, USB-C is recent but industry standard.

You can buy a charging plug and USB-C to lightning cable on Amazon. I have several.
