Guilt and shame are weird motivators to use to try to boost attendance. We’ve
seen The topic in several places over the last week. Kyle Whittingham chastised Utah fans. Nick Saban has come down on Alabama fans (who are about as rabid as you can get). And we’ve had angst on CB over the likelihood the stadium won’t be completely full later today.

People attend games because they are fun. Or they have the potential to be fun at least.

I’m driving up from St George today because everything lined up for my schedule. But I’m not going to throw shade on someone that is choosing to attend a child’s game instead, for example.

As much as I love BYU football, even if I lived within an hour of the stadium, attending every game wouldn’t be my life’s highest priority. I’d be there for nearly all. And I’d plan things around games. But there is actually more to life.
